The spring-fed lake is approximately 6 km long and 1 km wide with clear water (very good quality), is very private and is ideal for water sport activities like swimming, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, sailing and fishing. There is a little brook leading through several lakes right into the ocean. At the one end of the lake is the small village of Quinan where the Tusket River and the Quinan River join. The other end of the lake borders on a small sanctuary, and behind that there is a beautiful area with many lakes and rivers leading to a national park. This area is perfect for short or long trips either by land or on one of the many waterways.
There are only a few homes on the lake with an international neighborhood, some are cottages or summer homes, and some are year-round residences. All the neighbors enjoy the peacefulness and privacy of the lake and are very proud of the loons at Lake Lac à Pic who are spending their summers here from April until October. You will, of course, also find plenty of hummingbirds, blue jays, robins and even bald eagles here.
Nature lovers can take a walk or hike into the backcountry and watch the wildlife and habitat.
Although the location is private, it is close to villages and towns and to the ocean. The properties are part of the little community of Quinan, Municipality of Argyle, and are about 30 minutes away from the coastal town of Yarmouth with shopping malls, banks, restaurants, a hospital, schools, ferry service from Maine, U.S., and a regional airport. The small village of Tusket is only 20 minutes away, where you will find a convenience store, the post office, a school, a bank, a gas station, a car dealership and a few restaurants. And from a cultural point of view, Canada’s oldest courthouse is right there. In just 20 minutes you are at the Atlantic Ocean, and in 40 minutes at the Bay of Fundy. You will find beautiful beaches, and many activities are offered, like sea kayaking, sailing, deep-sea fishing, and whale-watching.
The protected inland location results in about 5 degrees warmer temperatures as compared to ocean-frontage. The lake warms up pretty fast, and swimming is very pleasant from mid May until end of September. In late fall and winter it might get very rough and stormy at the ocean whereas it is much more protected inland. The lake freezes in winter so that you can actually skate on it. You can go snow-mobiling, cross-country skiing or hiking directly from your door.
